Better Than Regret

Audio Poem

Better a shadow than a flame,
Better silence than a name.
Better the void than resonating sound,
Better lost than falsely found.

Better a tear that never fell,
Than one that drowned in a bitter well.
Better a dream you never knew,
Than waking to find it untrue.

Better the dark than a dimming light,
Better retreat than a futile fight.
Better a heart that beats alone,
Than one that aches where love has flown.

Better not to remember than to regret,
Better to live with the wounds unmet.
For memory lingers, a spirit unkind,
Better no traces than those regrets that bind.
