I am your shadow, your mirror’s face,
I bore your weight in the empty space.
Your words, like thunder, bruised the air,
Your gaze a tempest I could not bear.
It’s all you,
You, and you.
A ghost rides over me tonight,
A spectre draped in fading light.
You whispered lies, they filled my head,
And truth, like a fleeing bird, has fled.
It’s all you,
You, and you.
I swore you were the sacred flame,
I could not doubt; I would not blame.
You spoke of stars, of endless skies,
And fed me a dream wrapped in disguise.
I believed in you,
Only you.
I left the world to walk your road,
I carried your vision; I bore your load.
Friends dissolved like mist at dawn,
Your will consumed, and I was gone.
But now it rains, and the earth is stone,
You leave me cold.
Yes, you.
The ruins rise where promises fell,
A hollow echo, a ringing shell.
The lies denied burn in my chest,
And here I stand, bereft, oppressed.
Because of you,
You, you.
Now I wander, outside your dream,
Through broken stars and a frozen stream.
You were the sun that scorched the field,
And I, the ash, with nothing to yield.
You survive, you always do,
While others fall,
Because of you.
